As I dive into the latest edit of my novel, which brings the 1940s to life, I'm reminded of the incredible strength and perseverance of Una Marson, a Black British woman who carved out space for herself and others at a time when the odds were stacked high. Her journey as a poet, playwright, and the first Black woman producer at the BBC is a testament to unwavering dedication and self-belief.
Una’s story gives me renewed energy, especially as I navigate the sometimes daunting process of editing. Her achievements during such a challenging period show that vision and resilience can lead to incredible change. She didn’t just create opportunities for herself but paved the way for so many voices that were waiting to be heard.
This Monday, let's channel some of Una Marson’s courage and determination. No matter what challenges we’re facing – whether it’s editing, starting a new project, or something entirely different – let’s remember the legacy of those who pushed through barriers before us.
And there you have it, a short and sweet post to motivate you this Monday Morning. And if Una Marson is someone you are interested in, then you've love Thursday's post because it's all about her!
Stay motivated my friend.
