About Me

I've loved writing and creating stories ever since I was a child. My parents, who came from Dominica in the Caribbean, brought with them a rich history and culture that shaped my upbringing. Alongside this vibrant tapestry of their past, I grew up in a lively neighbourhood in West London, where diverse cultures intertwined. I balanced my Caribbean home life with the British way of life I was born into, navigating two worlds that deeply influenced my perspective.

The connection between London and the Caribbean forms the heart of my storytelling. Like my own journey of finding identity as a Black British woman, themes of women’s strength and resilience are central to my books. Much of this inspiration comes from the strong matriarch who raised me. My mother was the greatest influence on my writing—the best storyteller I’ve ever known. With her colourful, dramatic, and romantic way of speaking, she shared vivid tales of her life in the Caribbean and her journey to building a new life for our family in London.

While I’m hesitant to call my first novel, Holding Paradise, autobiographical, it undeniably carries a strong dose of experiences that echo both my mother’s life and my own. This dual timeline story, published by Indigo Dreams in 2014, marked the start of my journey as a published author. The characters and themes from Holding Paradise sparked a series of short stories and a novella. While not published individually, these works evolved into the Island Secrets Series, with a reinvented Holding Paradise becoming book one of the series, released in 2024. The year before, I published a standalone novel titled Lovers.

Writing Holding Paradise inspired me to refine my craft. I enrolled in creative writing courses at an adult education college, which eventually led me to pursue a Creative Writing MA at Brunel University. Since then, I’ve continued to hone my skills through ghostwriting, copywriting, and creating blog content for various companies.

Currently, I’m working on a new book series and plan to publish the first instalment in 2025. My passion for storytelling keeps evolving, and I’m excited about the new directions my writing is taking.

I now live in the English countryside with my musician husband, where I teach vocals and lead a local choir. When I’m not writing, I’m immersed in music and the joys of rural life.

Under the pseudonym Rosa Temple, I write contemporary fiction, with books published by HQ Digital and Simon & Schuster UK. This creative avenue allows me to explore different genres while staying true to my voice and passion for storytelling.
